So I was taking a test that has to do with A Midsummer's Night Dream, and thought of something that happened 2 yrs ago. So we were doing a play and I was Helena and my crush, Chase was Demetrius. Me and one of my rlly good friend Jiulie was Helena and her bestie Olivia and my bestie Katie was Hermia (btw, Lysander was a kinda fat kid Kristian and he farts skink, no one really liked him) So I loved him and ig he thought of me as a really good friend (getting mlb vibes here lol) so it was kind like I'm chasing him (I don't chase, I attract <3) but um it's alot like the story. And I think that Katie sorta liked him too ( that's a nasty thing to do to ur bsf) cause she kinda got jelly when we were talking. So umm I asked him at lunch one day which one would he rather be Helena and he was like " oh like your my sis and whatev but being in love with Jiulie would be awkward like since like I don't really know her that well but id.k. I was kinda confused at what he said here. And at the end where Demetrius fell in love with Helena by the spell, I was like finally! I pretended that he wasn't spelled and we were ourselves and like he actually loved me. (said my 5th grade heart, and also ignoring that Kristian was not in love with me.

Diaghilev and his Ballets Russes tour were motivated by the waning popularity of traditional ballet in Western Europe. We can safely conclude that during the 1910s and 1920s, Diaghilev and his Ballets Russes propelled Russia to the forefront of the global avant-garde. The literature is varied and includes memoirs, biographies, specialised studies of dance, stage design, costumes, and fashion, as well as some more general attempts at interpretation. Various publications have looked into this topic. For instance, Lynn Garafola authored a biography of Diaghilev and a number of pieces about him that discussed both Diaghilev and the other artists in his orbit. Garafola specifically looked at the impact of futurism, neoprimitivism, the pre-Romantic creative history of Latinity, and more in the essay "The Making of Ballet Modernism."

how does this postmodern approach distinguish itself from the neoclassical approach exemplified in the music of wynton marsalis? along the philosophical spectrum of jazz, where do you stand? which points made by either of these two philosophic camps do you support? which points do you oppose?

Answers

The postmodern approach differs from the neoclassical approach in the following ways:

The postmodern approach seeks to move away from the idea of a unified style of jazz and instead embraces multiple, often contrasting styles of improvisation. It places emphasis on individual expression and exploration of various musical influences. It focuses on the expansion of existing music styles rather than reviving old styles. For example, it incorporates elements of rock, pop, and hip-hop music into jazz.

Neoclassical jazz, on the other hand, embraces a more structured approach with more traditional influences, often focusing on strict adherence to harmony and time-keeping. Wynton Marsalis exemplifies the neoclassical approach to jazz. He plays traditional jazz styles, while also incorporating new elements into his music. He has been accused by postmodernists of being overly traditional and narrow-minded in his approach to jazz music.

Where do you stand on the philosophical spectrum of jazz?

That is up to you to decide! If you prefer traditional jazz styles, you may prefer the neoclassical approach. If you are more experimental and open to new sounds, you may be more drawn to the postmodern approach. The important thing is to appreciate and enjoy the music.

Points made by postmodernism that are supported: Jazz should not be limited to traditional styles. It should be experimental, innovative, and individualistic.

Points made by neoclassicism that are supported: Traditional jazz styles are important and should be preserved. It should be taught in a systematic and rigorous manner and need to be taken seriously as an art form.

Points made by postmodernism that are opposed: The rejection of traditional jazz styles, focus on individualism over tradition and the belief that jazz can be anything, as long as it is innovative.

Points made by neoclassicism that are opposed: The belief that jazz should be elitist and exclusive and limited to traditional styles.
