Answers

The main theme of this passage is 'Be careful what you wish for'. So the option A is correct.

The story of King Midas and the Golden Touch is a classic cautionary tale, warning us to be careful what we wish for. King Midas was a wealthy king who wanted more wealth and power. He was granted his wish by the gods, that everything he touched would turn to gold.

At first, King Midas was ecstatic with his newfound power and enjoyed using it to turn anything to gold. But when he touched his beloved daughter, he realized the consequences of his wish. His daughter turned into a gold statue, and he realized that the gold of the world was not worth the love of his daughter.

The moral of the story is that we should think carefully before we wish for something, as it might come with unintended consequences and have a greater cost than we anticipate. So the option A is correct.

The active form of the sentence "The job will be done by the labourers" is: "The labourers will do the job."

How to explain the information

In the original sentence, "The job will be done by the labourers," the focus is on the job being completed and the action being performed by the labourers. However, in the active form, the subject of the sentence becomes the labourers, who are now performing the action.

By rephrasing the sentence to "The labourers will do the job," we make the labourers the subject of the sentence, indicating that they will actively perform the task. The verb "will do" emphasizes the intention or future action of the labourers.

The active voice is often preferred over the passive voice as it provides a clearer and more direct representation of the subject performing the action.

how do i write a annotated bibliography? My topic is how are teens affected by drug use. i need 3 reasons that are creditable

Answers

A bibliography is a list of sources (books, journals, Web sites, periodicals, etc.) one has used for researching a topic. Bibliographies are sometimes called "References" or "Works Cited" depending on the style format you are using. A bibliography usually just includes the bibliographic information (i.e., the author, title, publisher, etc.).

An annotation is a summary and/or evaluation. Therefore, an annotated bibliography includes a summary and/or evaluation of each of the sources. Depending on your project or the assignment, your annotations may do one or more of the following.
* Summarize: Some annotations merely summarize the source. What are the main arguments? What is the point of this book or article? What topics are covered? If someone asked what this article/book is about, what would you say? The length of your annotations will determine how detailed your summary is. For more help, see our handout on paraphrasing sources.
* Assess: After summarizing a source, it may be helpful to evaluate it. Is it a useful source? How does it compare with other sources in your bibliography? Is the information reliable? Is this source biased or objective? What is the goal of this source? For more help, see our handouts on evaluating resources.
* Reflect: Once you've summarized and assessed a source, you need to ask how it fits into your research. Was this source helpful to you? How does it help you shape your argument? How can you use this source in your research project? Has it changed how you think about your topic?
Your annotated bibliography may include some of these, all of these, or even others. If you're doing this for a class, you should get specific guidelines from your instructor.

I need a 3 Paragraph Literary essay about RALPH's CHARACTER FROM LORD OF THE FLIES.

This is extremely important! Don't worry about grammar or spelling, I can fix that, I just need this, and normally I don't do this, but it's an emergency!!

Answers

Answer:

here is some of what i found online i hope this helps u

In The Lord of the Flies by William Golding Ralph is a very interesting character. In the novel a group of boys become stranded on a desert island and must fight to survive. Ralph is a compelling character because he is the one who fights to keep civility alive amongst the boys and tries to stop them becoming savages. We can track how he does this throughout the novel.

The first way Ralph proves to be interesting is when he establishes a sense of order on the island. He finds a large conch and gathers the boys together and tells them “I’ll give the conch to the next person to speak, they won’t be interrupted”. We can see clearly here that there is a sense of democracy, any boy who wishes to speak will be given the chance to do so. The idea that they won’t be ‘interrupted’ shows that Ralph expects the boys to listen to each other and give each other respect even if they don’t agree with one another. Ralph is also clearly the leader here as he is the one in charge of where the conch goes. This makes Ralph interesting as he is clearly the authority figure and he is clearly in charge at this point.

Ralph continues to exert his authority over the boys. The younger boys begin to slack off from their work and the older boys don’t pay attention to the fire and so Ralph shouts “I’m calling an assembly” and the boys immediately gather at the point. This shows that Ralph is still the boss at this point and it shows the boys still have a sense of civility as they conform to Ralph’s instructions. This is interesting because it shows Ralph is still able to control the boys at this point and there is still a sense of a functioning society.

Ralph sees that the boys are starting to move away from their civility as time passes and he tries to remind the boys of who they are. The older boys let the fire go out and Ralph, furious at them asks “Are we savages or what?” The tone of this is angry and he is trying to tell the boys that they need to behave better. The loss of fire is a loss of hope of rescue. Letting the fire go out suggests that some of the older boys aren’t actually fussed about getting off the island. This scene is interesting because it shows Ralph is starting to feel exhausted from being the only authority figure and he is getting frazzled at trying to get so many boys to conform to rules that will ultimately save them.

The main purpose of including the sidebar "Can a chatbot write a sonnet?" is to explore the capabilities and limitations of chatbots in creative writing. The expert's opinion of the sonnet is not explicitly mentioned, as the question focuses on whether a chatbot can write one. Most people would likely recognize the limitations of a chatbot in writing a sonnet.

While chatbots have advanced in their ability to generate text, they still lack the creative intuition, emotional depth, and understanding of poetic devices that human poets possess.

The sidebar "Can a Chatbot Write a Sonnet?" serves as a thought-provoking addition to the main text, highlighting the evolving capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential to mimic human creativity. The author's main purpose in including this sidebar is to raise questions about the boundaries of AI and challenge readers to contemplate whether a machine can authentically replicate the complexity and beauty of a traditional form of poetry like a sonnet.

The expert's opinion of the sonnet is likely to be critical, pointing out the limitations and shortcomings of the AI-generated poem. The expert might recognize that while the sonnet may have structure and adhere to technical guidelines, it lacks the depth of emotion, personal experience, and artistic flair typically associated with human-authored sonnets.

The expert would likely appreciate the effort made by the chatbot in producing a coherent piece, but would also recognize the fundamental differences between AI-generated and human-generated poetry.

However, it is uncertain whether most people would perceive and appreciate what the expert recognizes. Some individuals might be impressed by the AI's ability to produce a sonnet, focusing more on the technical achievement rather than the artistic essence.

Others might be captivated by the novelty of AI-generated creative works without considering the nuances that separate human and machine creativity.

One poet who developed his writing style, poetic devices, language, and themes throughout his life was Robert Frost. His poetry is well known for its realistic depictions of rural life and his focus on nature. Frost’s writing style shifted throughout his life, from traditional verse to modernist styles, and his themes also shifted from simple descriptions of nature to more complex explorations of human nature and existence.

In his early work, Frost was known for his traditional verse, which included strict rhyme schemes and meter. His themes during this time were often focused on nature and rural life, with a focus on the people who lived in these settings. One of his early poems, “Mending Wall,” is an example of this style.

In this poem, Frost describes the annual ritual of mending a stone wall that divides his property from his neighbor’s. Through this depiction, Frost explores themes of isolation and the boundaries that people set between themselves.

As Frost matured, his style became less traditional, with less focus on strict rhyme schemes and meter. Instead, his poetry began to explore more complex themes, including the nature of existence and the human experience.

One example of this is his poem “The Road Not Taken,” which explores the idea of choice and the way that the choices we make affect our lives. This poem is also notable for its use of extended metaphor, which became a hallmark of Frost’s later work.

Overall, Frost’s poetry evolved over time as he explored new themes and experimented with new styles and poetic devices. His legacy as one of America’s most celebrated poets is a testament to the power of his work and its enduring impact on American literature.

Wells The region of the world that displayed the most immediate and striking results from the new inventions in transport was North America. Politically, the United States embodied, and its constitution crystallized, the liberal ideas of the mid-eighteenth century. It dispensed with state-church or crown, it would have no titles, it protected property jealously as a method of freedom, and it gave nearly every adult male citizen a vote. Its method of voting was crude, and therefore its political life soon fell, but that did not prevent the newly emancipated population from developing an energy, enterprise, and public spirit far beyond that of any other contemporary population. Then came that acceleration of locomotion. It is a curious thing that America, which owes most to this acceleration in locomotion, has felt it least. The United States has taken the railway, the river steamboat, the telegraph, and so forth as though they were a natural part of their growth. They were not. These things happened to come along just in time to save American unity. The United States of today was made first by the river steamboat, and then by the railway. Without these things, the present United States would have been altogether impossible. The westward flow of population would have been far more sluggish. It might never have crossed the great central plains. The first state established beyond the river was the steamboat state of Missouri in 1821. But the rest of the distance to the Pacific was done in a few decades. If we had the resources then, it would be interesting to show a map of North America year by year from 1600 onward, with little dots to represent hundreds of people, each dot a hundred, and stars to represent cities of a hundred thousand people. For two hundred years, the reader would see the little dots creeping slowly along the coastal districts and navigable waters, spreading still more gradually into Indiana, Kentucky, and so forth. Then somewhere about 1810 would come a change. Things would get more lively along the river courses. The dots would be multiplying and spreading. That would be the steamboat. Then from about 1850 onward would come the black lines of the railways, and after that the little black dots would not simply creep but run.
