The perimeter of a scalene triangle is 14.5 cm. The longest side is twice that of the shortest side. Which equation can be used to find the side lengths if the longest side measures 6.2 cm?

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

If the longest side is 6.2 cm, and it is twice the length of the shortest, then we can write an equation as 2x=6.2, where x is the short side length.

Then, since a triangle has 3 sides, the medium side length is 14.5-6.2-x.

how many rectangles of different sizes can be formed from 36 identical rectangles

Answers

The number of rectangles of different sizes can be formed from 36 identical rectangles is 5

Number of rectangles

From the question, we have proofs of;

Total number of identical squares = 36

Now, let the measurement of the side of each square be 1 unit

We have that the formula for area of a square is;

Area of a square = Side × Side square units

We have the area of the square to be;

Area of each square = 1×1 = 1 square units

This is so because the rectangles are identical both in length and width

Let's find the area of the identical squares

Area of total 36 identical squares

=  36×1 square units

=  36 square units

So Area of the rectangle = length × breadth square units

if the rectangles are formed from 36 identical squares then their areas are the same

Total area of required rectangles = 36 square units

It can be written as;

36 = length × breadth

36 = 1×36 36 = 2×1836 = 3×1236 = 4×936 = 6×6

(1,36) , (2,18),(3,12),(4,9),(6,6) are the different rectangles formed from 36 identical squares

Total rectangles = 5

Thus, the number of rectangles of different sizes can be formed from 36 identical rectangles is 5

(2 point) suppose the company adds grades d and f so there are 5 categories to grade performance. if they want to give a’s only to those in the top 3%, what performance score must a manager exceed to get an a?

Answers

The z-scores for the 10th and 90th percentiles are -1.28 and 1.28, respectively. The mean and standard deviation of the performance scores can be determined using the z-scores and the z-score formula.

a. To find the z-scores associated with the 10th and 90th percentiles from the standard normal distribution, we can use a standard normal distribution table or a calculator. The 10th percentile corresponds to a z-score of approximately -1.28, and the 90th percentile corresponds to a z-score of approximately 1.28.

b. To calculate the mean and standard deviation of the performance scores, we can use the z-score formula and the information given. Let's denote the mean as μ and the standard deviation as σ.

For the 10th percentile (z = -1.28):

-1.28 = (380 - μ) / σ

For the 90th percentile (z = 1.28):

1.28 = (160 - μ) / σ

Solving these two equations simultaneously will give us the values of μ and σ.

c. To find the performance score a manager must exceed to receive an A grade, we need to find the z-score associated with the top 3% of the standard normal distribution. The z-score corresponding to the top 3% is approximately 1.88. Using the z-score formula, we can calculate the corresponding performance score:

1.88 = (X - μ) / σ

Solving this equation for X will give us the performance score needed to receive an A grade.

It has been proved that the 5 star vertices have their sum of angles as A + B + C + D + E = 180°

How to find the sum of angles of a polygon?

The adjoining star contains a regular pentagon. Thus;

Sum of interior angles of the pentagon = (5 - 2) * 180 = 540°

Thus;

Each interior angle of the pentagon = 540/5 = 108°

Thus, each exterior angle = 180 - 108 = 72°

Then measure of the angle at the vertex = 180 - 72 - 72 = 36°

Thus, each angle at the vertices of the star have an angle of 36°.

a standard deck is shuffled and placed on a table. what is the expected number of cards that are next to another card of the same value? (in a standard deck there are 52 cards. there are 13 values (ace, two, three, . . . , nine, ten, jack, queen, king). each value appears on 4 different cards in the deck)

Answers

The expected number of cards that are next to another card of the same value in a shuffled standard deck is approximately 0.1698.

To calculate the expected number of cards that are next to another card of the same value in a shuffled standard deck, we can consider the probability of each card being next to another card of the same value.

Let's break down the calculation:

For each card in the deck, there are two adjacent cards (one on each side) that can potentially be of the same value. However, the first and last cards only have one adjacent card each.

For the inner cards (excluding the first and last cards), there are three possibilities for each card:

The card is of the same value as the card to its left and the card to its right.

The card is of the same value as the card to its left but not the card to its right.

The card is of the same value as the card to its right but not the card to its left.

Since each card value appears on four cards in the deck, the probabilities for each of these three possibilities are:

Probability of both adjacent cards having the same value = (3/51) × (3/51) = 9/2601

Probability of only the left adjacent card having the same value = (3/51) × (48/51) = 144/2601

Probability of only the right adjacent card having the same value = (48/51) × (3/51) = 144/2601

Now, let's calculate the expected number of cards next to another card of the same value:

Expected number = (1/52) + (1/52) + (50/52) × (9/2601 + 144/2601 + 144/2601) + (1/52) = 441/2601 ≈ 0.1698

Therefore, the expected number of cards that are next to another card of the same value in a shuffled standard deck is approximately 0.1698.

In a survey of 349 people, a pet food manufacturer found that 145 owned a dog but not a cat, 60 owned a cat but not a dog, and 71 owncd neither a dog or a cat. (a) How many owned both a cat and a dog?

Answers

The number of people who owned both a cat and a dog is 73.

We need to calculate how many people owned both a cat and a dog. The number of people who owned a dog and/or a cat is:

Total = dog-only + cat-only + dog-and-cat + neither

Total = 145 + 60 + dog-and-cat + 71

Total = 276 + dog-and-cat

So, the number of people who owned both a cat and a dog (dog-and-cat) is:

dog-and-cat = Total - 276

dog-and-cat = 349 - 276

dog-and-cat = 73

However, this number is the total of those who own both. The answer to the question asks how many owned both a cat and a dog.

So:

dog-and-cat = dog-only + cat-only + dog-and-cat

dog-and-cat = 145 + 60 + dog-and-cat

73 = 145 + 60 + dog-and-cat

dog-and-cat = 73 - 205

dog-and-cat = -132

Hence, 132 people neither own a dog nor a cat. So, the number of people who owned both a cat and a dog is:

dog-and-cat = Total - (dog-only + cat-only + neither)

dog-and-cat = 349 - (145 + 60 + 71)

dog-and-cat = 349 - 276

dog-and-cat = 73

Therefore, the number of people who owned both a cat and a dog is 73.

Answers

Tthe arc length function for the curve y = sin−1(x) 1 − x2 with starting point (0, 1) is L(x) = (1/2) * (pi/2 - sin−1(x)) + (1/2) * x * sqrt(1 - x^2), where x is between 0 and 1.

To find the arc length function for the curve y = sin−1(x) 1 − x2 with starting point (0, 1), we first need to find the derivative of the function. Taking the derivative of the function, we get:

dy/dx = 1 / sqrt(1 - x^2)

Now, we can use the formula for arc length to find the arc length function:

L(x) = ∫[0,x] sqrt(1 + (dy/dx)^2) dx

Substituting the derivative of y with respect to x into this formula, we get:

L(x) = ∫[0,x] sqrt(1 + (1 / (1 - x^2))^2) dx

This integral can be evaluated using a substitution or by using a table of integrals. After evaluating the integral, we get the arc length function for the curve:

L(x) = (1/2) * (pi/2 - sin−1(x)) + (1/2) * x * sqrt(1 - x^2)

Therefore, the arc length function for the curve y = sin−1(x) 1 − x2 with starting point (0, 1) is L(x) = (1/2) * (pi/2 - sin−1(x)) + (1/2) * x * sqrt(1 - x^2), where x is between 0 and 1.

Minimizing the sum of squared residuals.

How is the OLS estimator derived?

The OLS (Ordinary Least Squares) estimator is derived by minimizing the sum of squared residuals. This method aims to find the line of best fit that minimizes the vertical distance between the observed data points (Yi) and the predicted values on the regression line. The residuals represent the differences between the observed values and the predicted values.

By minimizing the sum of squared residuals, the OLS estimator ensures that the line fits the data as closely as possible. This approach is based on the principle of least squares, which seeks to find the parameters that minimize the overall discrepancy between the observed data and the predicted values.

Connecting the Yi corresponding to the lowest Xi observation with the Yi corresponding to the highest Xi or ensuring that the standard error of the regression equals the standard error of the slope estimator are not the steps involved in deriving the OLS estimator. The OLS method specifically focuses on minimizing the sum of squared residuals.

The radius of a cylinder is 6.0 inches and the height is 9.0 inches, what is the volume of the cylinder? if the cylinder is enlarged by a linear scale factor of 3, what is the volume of the enlarged cylinder?

Answers

Answer:

A) The volume of the cylinder is 1017.9 in³.

B) The volume of the enlarged cylinder is 27,482.7 in³.

Step-by-step explanation:

What is the volume of the cylinder?

The radius of the cylinder is r = 6 in and the height is h = 9 in.

The volume of a cylinder can be found using the formula:

V = πr²h

Substitute r = 6 and h = 9 into the formula.

V = π(6)²(9)V = π(36)(9)V = π(324)V = 1017.876

The volume of the cylinder is 1017.876 in³.

What is the volume of the enlarged cylinder?

If the cylinder is enlarged by a factor of 3, this means that each dimension is getting increased by 3.

Therefore, we need to multiply the original volume by a factor of three cubed; 3³.

V_enlarged = V · 3³V_enlarged = 1017.876 · 27 = 27482.652 in³

The volume of the enlarged cylinder is 27,482.652 in³.

Situation C: "Together, the Panthers and the Cardinals scored 12 runs last season."

Situation 'C' simply means that the sum of the Panthers' score and the Cardinals' score would be 12.

\(p + c = 12\)

Option C would be Incorrect.

=======================================

Situation D: "The Panthers scored 12 runs last season."

Situation D explains itself. 'P' would be set equal to 12.

\(p = 12\)

Option D would be Incorrect.

=======================================

Hope this helps.

Answers

On the basis of given information that ΔEFG is congruence to ΔHJK and

a)EG≅HK

b)HJ≅EF

c)∠F≅∠J

d)∠H≅∠E

e)ΔFGE≅ ΔJKH

What are congruence?

Any two figures that can perfectly overlap each other are considered to be in congruence. Triangles that perfectly overlap each other are said to be congruent triangles. Several congruence rules, such as SAS, SSS, RHS, ASA, and AAS, are used to demonstrate the congruency in two triangles. Any of the three specified dimensions can be used to demonstrate that two triangles are congruent since a triangle has six dimensions—three sides and three angles. If placed in the correct orientation, congruent triangles are mirror reflections of one another. The pictures of two congruent things are always overlaid. The congruent figures have the same corresponding angle and dimensions. The character "" is used to denote consistency between two things.

Given that ΔEFG ≅ ΔHJK,

The rule says that if the triangles are congruent then its corresponding parts are equal.

The correspnding angles are:

∠E ≅ ∠H

∠F ≅ ∠J

∠G ≅ ∠K

The correspnding sides are:

EF ≅ HJ

FG ≅ JK

EG ≅ HK

These congruent triangles ΔEFG ≅ ΔHJK can also be names as:

ΔFGE ≅ ΔJKH

ΔGEF ≅ ΔKHJ
