Think about your favorite film. What genre is it? Do you think it is a typical example of that genre, or does it use new or unexpected approaches? What techniques have been used by the director, or the special effects team, in creating the mood of the film?

Answers

(I’m assuming your teacher means movie when they say film)
There are spoilers is you haven’t seen this and have an interest in watching it. This is long incase your teacher is looking for a detailed explanation but you can always paraphrase or summarize what I say if they want shorter.

My favorite movie is the movie Scream. It’s a classic horror genre film and yes, I believe this is a typical example of a horror movie. I think the mood of this film is suspenseful and shocking. Techniques that I think were used to create this mood was the use of luring the viewer into a false sense of security when it came to who the killer actually was. If you’ve seen this then you know the killer was Billy and Stu. This came as a shock to me because both Billy and Stu had moments where they were on screen when the killer was as well. Thus, making you believe that it was neither of them. For me personally, Billy and Stu were my favorite characters so I was shocked to find out that is was the two of them working together(hence how they could be seen with the killer) I think this made the move suspenseful because you could never be sure where it when the killer was going to strike. And when I started to suspect that Billy may have been the killer, it was made to seem like he was proven innocent. There was even a scene where he was “killed” by Ghost-face(that is what the killer is referred to as)So all my theory’s went down the drain. But like I said earlier, Billy and Stu worked together so it was all just a ploy to make you think Billy was innocent all along and he was now dead. But it was incredibly shocking when Billy showed up again and revealed it was all just a trick. All of these things mentioned made the movie very shocking and suspenseful to watch.

I hope this is what you were looking for and can help you.

Having witnessed the very real educational consequences of being raised by a single mother on government aid and attending underprivileged schools, the speaker has gained valuable insights into the challenges faced by marginalized students. This firsthand knowledge goes beyond sympathy and enables the speaker to develop targeted solutions that address the root causes of educational disparities.

Moreover, the speaker's own educational journey, including witnessing their older brother's trajectory from high school graduation to dropping out of college, has sparked a desire to understand why some students succeed while others face obstacles. Write: Why does the speaker feel that he could be more effective than famous education reformers?

The text:

When I actually did make it to college, I told my friend Brennan how our teachers would always ask us to raise our hands if we were going to college. I was taken aback when Brennan said, “Karim, I’ve never been asked that question before.” It was always, “What college are you going to?” Just the way that question is phrased made it unacceptable for him not to have gone to college.

Nowadays I get asked a different question. “How were you able to make it out?” For years I said I was lucky, but it’s not just luck. When my older brother and I graduated from high school at the very same time and he later dropped out of a two-year college, I wanted to understand why he dropped out and I kept studying. It wasn’t until I got to Cornell as a Presidential Research Scholar that I started to learn about the very real educational consequences of being raised by a single mother on government aid and attending the schools that I did. That’s when my older brother’s trajectory began to make complete sense to me.

I also learned that our most admirable education reformers, people like Arne Duncan, the former US Secretary of Education, or Wendy Kopp, the founder of Teach For America, had never attended an inner city public school like I had. So much of our education reform is driven by a sympathetic approach, where people are saying, “Let’s go and help these poor inner city kids, or these poor black and Latino kids,” instead of an empathetic approach, where someone like me, who had grown up in this environment, could say, “I know the adversities that you’re facing and I want to help you overcome them.”
