Magnetism Today, August 5, 2005. (the complete website address/URL, name of the website, and date you accessed the website)

Answers

Answer:

The correct way to cite an article you read online about Magnetism would be:

Magnetism Today, August 5, 2005. (name of the website, date you accessed the website, and the complete website address/URL)

It's important to include the name of the website, the date you accessed the website, and the complete website address/URL in the citation. Additionally, the name of the website should be formatted with italics or underlined to indicate that it's a title.

Explanation:

Answer:

The correct way to cite an article you read online about Magnetism is:

Author, A. A. (Date of publication). Title of article. Title of website, [URL].

For example, if you read an article about Magnetism on the website "Magnetism Today" on August 5, 2005, you would cite it as follows:

Smith, J. (2005, August 5). Magnetism. Magnetism Today, https://www.magnetismtoday.com/.

Note that the author's name is not always available, in which case you would omit it from the citation. Additionally, if the article does not have a title, you would use the title of the website in place of the article title.

Here are some additional tips for citing online articles:

Always include the date you accessed the article, even if it is the same date as the publication date.

If the article is no longer available on the website where you found it, you can try searching for it on the Wayback Machine.

If you are citing a government website, you can use the Government Publishing Office (GPO) Style Guide for guidance.

If you are citing a scholarly journal article, you can use the American Psychological Association (APA) Style Guide for guidance.

I hope this helps!

How does the narrator's embarrassed attitude towards her culture affect the way she describes events in the passage?
A.She describes the food as foreign and unappealing.
B.She focuses on her desire to be more "American."
C.She focuses on her crush's reactions to her family.
D.She criticizes every little detail of her mother's cooking.

Answer: B

Explanation:

It’s answer B.

How? When being embarrassed you tend to avoid it. For example, if you’ve ever had a bad sweatshirt, maybe dirty, you are embarrassed of it. You try to hide it or at the very least avoid it. Same thing for the narrator, she doesn’t want anything to do with it because she finds it embarrassing to her reputation, etc.

Read the following poem by Paul Laurence Dunbar and answer the question that follows.

Sympathy
I know what the caged bird feels, alas!
When the sun is bright on the upland slopes;
When the wind stirs soft through the springing grass,
And the river flows like a stream of glass;
When the first bird sings and the first bud opes,
And the faint perfume from its chalice steals--
I know what the caged bird feels!

I know why the caged bird beats his wing
Till its blood is red on the cruel bars;
For he must fly back to his perch and cling
When he fain would be on the bough a-swing;
And a pain still throbs in the old, old scars
And they pulse again with a keener sting--
I know why he beats his wing!

I know why the caged bird sings, ah me,
When his wing is bruised and his bosom sore,--
When he beats his bars and he would be free;
It is not a carol of joy or glee,
But a prayer that he sends from his heart's deep core,
But a plea, that upward to Heaven he fling--
I know why the caged bird sings!

Choose one character from the myth Damon and Pythias and explain how and why that character changes over the course of the myth. Describe at least one conflict that character faces. Use evidence from the text to support your answer.

Answers

Damon is a close friend of Pythias, who is sentenced to death by the tyrant Dionysius. Damon offers to take Pythias' place in prison, allowing Pythias to go home and settle his affairs before his execution. Pythias is allowed to return to Syracuse to arrange his affairs, on the condition that if he does not return, Damon will be put to death in his place.

Initially, Damon is portrayed as a loyal and selfless friend, willing to sacrifice his own life to save that of his friend. However, as the deadline for Pythias' return approaches and Pythias has yet to come back, Damon begins to have doubts and fears. He starts to question whether Pythias will return and whether he has made the right decision in taking his place. Dionysius, the tyrant, also try to tempt Damon with power, wealth, and status if he would not return to prison.

The conflict that Damon faces in the myth is the struggle between his loyalty to his friend and his own self-preservation. He must weigh the potential loss of his own life against the value of his friendship with Pythias. In the end, Pythias does return, and the tyrant is convinced of their friendship and spares their lives, Damon's trust and loyalty shown to his friend is rewarded.

It is interesting to note that the story of Damon and Pythias is often used as a representation of the Greek concept of Philia (friendship) which was considered a highly valued virtue in ancient Greece.

Based on the short story " The Landlady" by Roald Dahl

How did Billy's actions contribute to the overall theme of the story?

(There are no answer choices.)
(Essay)

Answers

Answer:

This article examines "The Landlady" by Roald Dahl, including its topic, foreshadowing, irony, and summary.

"The Landlady" by Roald Dahl is a classic. It is a thrilling horror story with an unexpected conclusion. The word count is manageable at 3,500. Billy Weaver arrives in Bath by London train at 9 p.m. chilly and windy He asks the porter whether there is an inexpensive motel nearby. Within a quarter mile, he is directed to The Bell and Dragon.

Billy's first visit to Bath. The Head Office in London instructed him to report to the local Branch Manager.

Billy, age 17, is launching a business and donning new attire. On the residential street, he quickly walks. It is surrounded by decaying mansions.

A lighted window draws his attention. It says "Bed And Breakfast" on it. He walks up and peeks inside. There are flowers, green velvet drapes, and a dog curled up in front of the fireplace. It is nicely appointed. A caged parrot also attracts his attention.

It is more hospitable than a bar. He enjoys the beer, darts, and company at the Bell and Dragon. He is afraid of dormitories. Before making a decision, he watches The Bell and the Dragon.

As he departs, he examines the "Bed And Breakfast" sign. He is required to stay. Immediately, he rings the doorbell. Before he can retract his finger, a woman of middle age answers the door. Billy is amazed by her prompt response.

She greets him with a warm smile. Again, he desires to remain. He demands a room costing five and sixpence. Surprisingly inexpensive. He accepts and enters.

She is kind. She helps him with his coat. There are no further coats on the rack. She says it's just her and him. Billy is perplexed. She claims to be picky. She is, however, ready for Billy or another gentlemanly young guy. He is examined.

She invites him to a room on the second floor. It is comfy. Billy corrects her when she calls him Mr. Perkins.

Billy assures the landlady that she need not be concerned. She asks about supper plans. He will sleep, as he is not hungry. Before retiring, she requests that he sign the guestbook. Unpacking is next.

She is odd, but Billy doesn't care. Ultimately, she is nice. Presumably, she had lost a son in the war and was still in mourning.

In the living area. It's pleasant, and the dog continues to sleep by the fire. He signs the register. Only Christopher Mulholland and Gregory Temple are present. Both names are well-known to him. He remembers his sister, his father, and school. He cannot identify them.

The landlady comes carrying a tea tray. Billy inquires about the fame of the two men. They were appealing, just like Billy. He notes their biennial and triennial trips. How much time has passed? Again, she refers to him as Mr. Wilkins, and Billy corrects her.

Billy recalls a relationship between the names in the guestbook. His hostess serves him with tea and cookies. He continues to discuss the individuals, certain that he will remember them.

He believes he recalls Christopher Mulholland, a schoolboy on a hiking trip. She says that wasn't the one that stayed with her. She has Billy over for tea. She watches him drink. Billy perceives that she smells like pickled walnuts, new leather, or a hospital corridor.

According to the landlady, Mr. Mulholland drank a lot of tea. Billy claims that he left recently. She claims that he and Mr. Temple never separated. On the third floor, they will remain.

A verb's mood can affect a sentence by showing the tone or attitude with which a thought is expressed.

A: True
B: False

Answers

Answer:

A true

Explanation:

By indicating the attitude or tone with which a concept is stated as a factual statement, a verb's mood can have an impact on a phrase. As a result, option (A) is correct.

What is meant by a verb?

The verb frequently agrees in person, number, or gender with the subject, which is its main argument, in languages where inflexion is used. Except for the verb "to be," English only exhibits different agreements in the third person singular, present tense forms of verbs, which are denoted by adding "-s" (for walks) or "-es" (for fishes).

I walk, you walk, they walk, etc., but the other people are not mentioned in the verb.

The tense-aspect-mood (abbreviated "TAM") inflected verbs used in Latin and the Romance languages agree with the subject in person and number but not in gender, as in Polish.

When they got on the canoe it got cloudy and a little chilly. They started thinking they should get off since it looked like it was about to rain. It did not look to cloudy so one of them said they should go for less then 20 mines and be back right away. The other boy was older and more wise. He thought if it got cloudy that fast imagine how fast it’s going to start raining. The other boy started getting annoyed and said he sounded scared. He got mad and said he would go but as long as they finished fast. When they got on one boy was exited but the other had a bad feeling.

When they went on after 5 minutes one boy felt a rain drop on his nose and thought it would rain hard and the canoe would start moving and they would not have anymore control, and he was right. It surprisingly got foggy so they tried to canoe as fast as they could to get back since it was so hard to see. It got so foggy that they dropped there paddles in the water and were stuck for hours. Can someone edit this. It is supposed to be like 2 paragraphs and about the nullification crisis

As of right now, according to Oregon’s Law ‘...anyone under the age of 16 operating an ATV on public lands is to be supervised by an adult over the age of 18…Youth under the age of 16 are required to have on-line safety training and hands-on rider training.’ While Federal laws state ‘...to be at least 12 years of age to operate an ATV on state land.’
When you look at the rates, it shows the only ⅓ of the fatalities are riders who are 16 and under. That leaves the other ⅔ to be LEGAL adults. Meaning in places like Oregon who have less riders than states such as Idaho should minimize the legal age down to at least 14. That way both sides would still get what they want. Oregon will have the age higher than Federal laws and Federal will have it lower than what Oregon wants it to be.
I do believe that they should nullify this law because quite a bit of Oregon doesn’t ride so the fatality rate would stay down. I am bringing up the fatalities because that is the only reason that Oregon's Law still is to be 16 and older. It would be a little different if the ⅔ was younger riders. I do believe that states should be able nullify certain laws. Many laws vary depending on the person. But people vary from state to state. So each state is different and needs different laws.

Alcott wants to emphasize that religion is more important that everyday details of life. The four March sisters have to follow saintly feet and have a spiritual journey through their lives, in spite their situation as  "little tripping maids".

"Tell them of Mercy; she is one
