Answer:
1. In environmental science, a community is defined as a group of different species living and interacting with each other in a particular ecosystem. An example of a community could be a forest ecosystem, where different species of trees, plants, animals, and microorganisms coexist and interact with each other. In order to become a member of a community, a species must adapt to the environment and develop strategies to obtain food, water, shelter, and defend themselves from predators.
2. A habitat is a specific area where a particular species lives and carries out its life processes. Two or more species can inhabit a habitat under conditions of resource partitioning, where they share resources such as food, space, and water without direct competition. For example, different species of birds can inhabit the same forest habitat by occupying different layers of the canopy and feeding on different resources.
3. Species diversity is highest under conditions of high habitat heterogeneity, where there are a variety of different habitats, resources, and environmental conditions. For example, a coral reef ecosystem with different zones such as the shallow reef, deep reef, and seagrass beds can support a high diversity of marine species.
4. Protocooperation is a type of symbiosis where species cooperate with each other to obtain a mutual benefit. An example could be ants and aphids, where ants protect aphids from predators and in turn, aphids secrete honeydew which is used as food by ants. Mutualism is a type of symbiosis where both species benefit from the interaction. An example could be pollination, where bees and flowers have a mutualistic relationship. Commensalism is a type of symbiosis where one species benefits from the interaction but the other is neither harmed nor benefited. An example could be the barnacles living on a whale's skin. Parasitism is a type of symbiosis where one species benefits at the expense of the other. An example could be a tick feeding on a human's blood. Tolerance is the ability of a species to endure environmental conditions outside of their normal range. An example could be some plants that can tolerate acidic soils. Interactions among species influence community structure by shaping the distribution and abundance of different species. Positive interactions could include pollination, while negative interactions could include competition for limited resources. Predation can affect community structure by regulating the density of prey species. Removal of a keystone predator can lead to a trophic cascade, where changes in one trophic level affect other levels.
5. Community changes can be caused by natural disturbances such as wildfires, floods, and storms, or by human activities such as deforestation, pollution, and climate change. Primary succession occurs on newly formed surfaces such as volcanic islands or glacial retreats, where organisms colonize the area and form a new ecosystem. An example could be the formation of a new island and the gradual colonization of different species over time. Secondary succession occurs on disturbed areas such as abandoned agricultural lands or forests after a disturbance such as wildfire, where new species gradually replace the previously dominant species. An example could be the regrowth of a forest after a wildfire, where different species occupy the different stages of succession.

Answer:In environmental science, a community refers to a group of different species living in the same area and interacting with each other. An example of a community is a coral reef, which includes a variety of species such as fish, coral, and algae. In order to become a member of a community, a species first needs to establish a niche and adapt to the environmental conditions of the area.
A habitat is the physical environment where a species lives. Two or more species can inhabit a habitat if they are able to share the resources available and coexist without harming each other. For example, multiple bird species can inhabit a forest if they each have different feeding habits and nesting locations.
Species diversity is greatest under conditions where there is a high level of environmental stability and a variety of habitats and resources available. Areas with high levels of biodiversity often have complex food webs and a large number of species occupying different niches.
Protocooperation refers to a mutually beneficial interaction between two species, such as bees pollinating flowers. Mutualism is a type of interaction where both species benefit, such as the relationship between plants and their pollinators. Commensalism is a relationship where one species benefits and the other is unaffected, such as barnacles attaching to whales for transportation. Parasitism is a relationship where one species benefits at the expense of the other, such as ticks feeding on the blood of mammals. Tolerance refers to a species' ability to survive and reproduce in the presence of other species. An example of tolerance is different plant species growing in the same area without competing for resources. Interactions among species influence what exists in a community by affecting the distribution and abundance of different species. Positive interactions, such as mutualism, can lead to increased diversity, while negative interactions, such as predation, can lead to decreased diversity.
Community changes can be caused by natural disturbances, such as fires or floods, or human activities, such as deforestation or pollution. Primary succession occurs in areas where there is no soil, such as after a volcanic eruption, and involves the gradual establishment of plant and animal communities over time. Secondary succession occurs in areas where soil is present, such as after a forest fire, and involves the reestablishment of a community that was previously present. The process of primary succession is typically slower than secondary succession, as it involves the creation of new habitats from scratch.

Read "Sonnet" by James Weldon Johnson. In a well-written paragraph of 5–7 sentences, explain how the structure of the poem affects its meaning. Be sure to discuss the meter, rhyme scheme, shift, and couplet.
My heart be brave, and do not falter so,
Nor utter more that deep, despairing wail.
Thy way is very dark and drear I know,
But do not let thy strength and courage fail;
For certain as the raven-winged night
Is followed by the bright and blushing morn,
Thy coming morrow will be clear and bright;
'Tis darkest when the night is furthest worn.
Look up, and out, beyond, surrounding clouds,
And do not in thine own gross darkness grope,
Rise up, and casting off thy hind'ring shrouds,
Cling thou to this, and ever inspiring hope:
Tho' thick the battle and tho' fierce the fight,
There is a power making for the right.

However, there are also cities, as people sadly decide to ruin the greenery by polluting. The natural world is amazing, flowers of all different colors they are so beautiful. Society, on the other hand, I could say it is near the point of corruption. People are so judgmental. There are also animals all around, it is just an amazing place but can be, well.. People can make it less amazing. There are good people, though, that make it amazing like it was meant to be.

Part D
Do you agree with Dickinson that it is better to be “Nobody” than “Somebody”? Explain. Does this change your perspective of yourself and how you look at others?
THANKS SO MUCH <3
Answer:
A. The main message of the poem is to be yourself. The narrator takes pride in calling herself “Nobody.” She’s proud of that distinction. She doesn’t want to be known for being annoying like a “frog” or a “Somebody.”
B. Readers who are shy or modest, those who worry about their appearance, and those who lack confidence would feel validated by this poem. The poem suggests that it’s not a bad thing to be far away from the attention of other people.
C. A few adjectives describe the poem’s mood. It sounds sarcastic when the narrator refers to an “admiring bog.” How can a swamp have pride like a parent watching her child? The comment on how “dreary” it is to be “Somebody” sounds judgmental because the narrator is proud of being an individual.
D. I agree. Often I don’t like attention and want to be left alone. The label of “nobody” is typically negative. But this poem changes my perspective about myself because it gives me confidence to be just who I am. Sometimes I worry about fitting in or becoming popular. After reading this poem, I feel that what's more important is for me to follow my goals. I also recognize that my friends and classmates act a certain way when they’re trying hard to be popular.

The Curse of the Bambino
(1) On December 26, 1919, the owner of the Boston Red Sox, Harry Frazee, made a decision that would haunt fans of the club for 86 years. He sold his best player, Babe Ruth, to the New York Yankees. This transaction marked the beginning of the "Curse of the Bambino." The Curse of the Bambino was the belief that, because the Red Sox sold Babe Ruth, they would never win another World Series.
(2) Ruth helped the Red Sox win the World Series in 1915, 1916, and 1918. However, his demands for a higher salary and his poor attitude caused Frazee to look for a chance to trade him. He chose an offer from the Yankees to sell Ruth for cash.
(3) Unfortunately for the Red Sox, Ruth would go on to become the greatest player in the history of the game. After purchasing Ruth, the Yankees would go on to become the most successful baseball club in history. They won their 26th World Series title in 2000.
(4) However, the worst part of the curse was that the Red Sox came very close to winning the championship several times but suffered heartbreaking losses. For Sox fans, seeing their team suffer heartbreaking losses was worse than the fate of teams like the Chicago Cubs, who were usually too bad to even get close.
(5) Finally, in 2004, Red Sox fans were rewarded for their loyalty. The Red Sox were able to defeat their rivals, the Yankees, to advance to the World Series. Then, they easily defeated the St. Louis Cardinals. While Red Sox fans suffered for 86 years, they would say that their victory in 2004 was sweeter because they had longed for it for so many years.
Which of the following sentences would best introduce paragraph 4?
A.
At least the Red Sox were still a good team for many of those years.
B.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox failed to win a single title since the day they sold Ruth.
C.
In addition, Roger Clemens won a Cy Young award for both the Red Sox and the Yankees.
D.
The Yankees and Red Sox now have a historic rivalry.

Answer:
One day I was at my grandma's house with my cousins and brother she had a big yard and tons of junk food. That is probably why my parents don’t let me go there much, anyway, we were at my grandma's house and it was getting dark but it was summertime so it wasn’t cold. My grandma's house has tons of cactus and sagebrush and a bunch of sand and small hills. We were inside the house eating and decided to go outside.
We started by playing hide and seek and then we started playing tag. When I was running away from my brother I jumped down a small hill and on the side of the hill was covered in cactus, so I kinda fell in the cactus. Once I landed in the cactus I began to scream, then my uncle came and picked me up and brought me up to the house. Once I got inside we began to pull the cactus needles out of my whole left side. After a few hours of pain, we got all the cactus out of my body, it took a few days to fully recover from the cactus needles. There were still some tiny little needles in my skin.
To this day I still hate cactus, but I still love my grandma's house and my grandma. I’ve only fallen in cactus once and I’m a lot more careful around cactus and other things. This took place about 3 years ago, but more recently I was walking in my grandma's yard and then the sand under my feet sank into a snake hole. I stepped away from the hole and looked in it and saw the head of a snake, I couldn’t tell what kind of snake it was because I ran away too fast. Still, I have good and bad memories from my grandma's house. One of the good memories is making cookies with my grandma. My grandma and grandpa are still alive and well.

Coatis are raccoon-like mammals native to South and Central America. Many people find them cute, and tourists have made a habit of offering the coatis food. Coatis realize that it is easier to seek out tourists than to search the forest for bugs. Like humans, they prefer junk food to what they should be eating. For their part, tourists do little to discourage the animals. After all, a coati drinking soda makes for a great vacation photo. Scientists, however, say that coatis and humans do best when they stay away from each other.
