1. What values and ideas did the writers of the Revolutionary period have in common with their Puritan forebears?

2. What values and ideas did they leave behind?

Answers

Answer 1

Puritans and the writers of the Revolutionary period have a

be freedom to practice their religion, independence, and

government. The Puritans were seeking a free land where they

could practice their religion without ending in punishment,

thus they founded the Plymouth colony where they could have

independence from their government and live their way of life

through what they believed. Likewise, the Revolutionary

period wanted to have a government that allowed them to

Identify and explain the factors that contribute to racial disproportionality in special education, and discuss implications for students with varying academic and behavioral needs

Answers

Racial disproportionality in special education refers to the overrepresentation of students of colour in special education programs relative to their representation in the general student population.

This disproportionality has been observed in many school districts and has significant implications for students with varying academic and behavioural needs. There are several factors that contribute to this disproportionality, including:

Bias and discrimination: Studies have shown that teachers and school staff may hold implicit biases and stereotypes about students of colour, which can lead to misinterpretation of their behaviours and lower expectations for their academic performance. This bias can result in overidentification of students of color as needing special education services.Poverty and environmental factors: Students of color are more likely to come from low-income families and attend schools that are under-resourced, which can contribute to lower academic achievement and increased likelihood of behavior problems. These factors can be misinterpreted as evidence of a need for special education services.Lack of cultural understanding and support: Teachers and school staff may lack understanding of the cultural backgrounds and experiences of students of colour, which can result in miscommunication and misunderstanding of behaviours and academic performance.Overemphasis on standardized testing: Many special education referrals are based on academic achievement, and students of colour are more likely to struggle on standardized tests. This can lead to overidentification for special education services, even if the student's academic struggles are related to environmental factors or lack of resources rather than a learning disability.

The implications of racial disproportionality in special education are significant. Overrepresentation of students of colour in special education programs can result in lower expectations for their academic performance, stigma, and segregation from their peers. It can also lead to limited access to general education curriculum and opportunities, which can limit their future academic and career prospects.

To address these issues, schools and educators can work to increase cultural understanding and support for students of colour, reduce reliance on standardized testing, and provide appropriate resources and support for all students to address environmental factors that may be impacting academic achievement. Schools can also work to reduce bias and discrimination through professional development and training for teachers and staff. By addressing these factors, schools can work towards reducing racial disproportionality in special education and providing all students with the support they need to succeed academically and behaviourally.

In the given lines from Robert Frost's "After Apple-Picking," the speaker contemplates the nature of sleep and compares his own sleep to that of a woodchuck. The personification used in these lines adds depth and emotion to the poem.

By attributing the ability to speak and compare sleeping habits to the woodchuck, the personification suggests a connection and potential similarity between the woodchuck and the speaker. It creates the feeling that the woodchuck and the speaker share a common experience and would engage in a conversation about their sleep.

This personification enhances the poem's exploration of sleep and its effects. It conveys a sense of curiosity and wonder about the woodchuck's sleep, as the speaker questions whether the woodchuck's long sleep is similar to his own experiences or different in some way.

Additionally, the personification contributes to the overall theme of the poem, which reflects on the passage of time, weariness, and the desire for rest. It implies that the speaker wishes he could sleep as long as the woodchuck does, suggesting a longing for a deep and undisturbed sleep.

which of the following was not necessarily an attribute of a self-actualizer, according to maslow?

The attribute of superior intelligence or talent was not necessarily an attribute of a self-actualizer, according to Maslow.

According to Abraham Maslow's theory of self-actualization, the following attribute was not necessarily associated with self-actualizers:

Peak experiences: Maslow believed that self-actualizers often had intense moments of joy, awe, or ecstasy known as "peak experiences." These experiences were seen as profound and transformative, providing individuals with a heightened sense of meaning and connection. However, not all self-actualizers necessarily had peak experiences.

Autonomy and independence: Self-actualizers were often described as having a strong sense of autonomy and independence. They tended to be self-directed and autonomous in their choices and actions. This attribute was considered important for self-actualization.

Authenticity and genuineness: Self-actualizers were thought to be authentic and genuine in their interactions and expressions. They were true to themselves and others, without putting on masks or pretending to be someone they were not. This attribute was considered essential for self-actualization.

Acceptance and non-judgment: Self-actualizers were characterized by their ability to accept themselves, others, and the world around them without harsh judgment or prejudice. They displayed a deep sense of empathy, understanding, and compassion. This attribute was considered significant for self-actualization.

Superior intelligence or talent: This attribute was not necessarily associated with self-actualizers. While self-actualizers might possess intelligence or talent, it was not a requirement for self-actualization. Explain why the judge in United States v. Susan B. Anthony feels the Fifteenth Amendment does not give Susan B. Anthony the right to vote. Cite evidence from the text in your explanation.

Answers

Answer:

The case the United States v. Susan B. Anthony was a criminal case taken up against Susan B. Anthony after she attempted to vote. She was found guilty and told to pay a $100 fine, which she adamantly refused. One argument that the defendant, Susan B. Anthony, had was that the fourteenth amendment said that all people born in the united states were citizens and that states could not infringe on their "privileges and immunities of citizens" which includes voting (as seen in the fifteenth amendment). However, the court argued that those only pertained to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as children were citizens but could not vote. Then, when faced with the fifteenth amendment the court said that since nowhere in the amendment is sex listed, women's right to vote was not protected.

hey ! i’m writing an essay for english and i want to know other transition words to start a conclusion paragraph besides “in conclusion”. anything helps, thanks!

Answers

The best way to start a conclusion paragraph is by restating your thesis.(hope this helps)
This might not be the best answer and is most likely incorrect, but often times I don’t include “transition words” necessarily.

Sometimes when I start a conclusion paragraph with a transition phrase, I find myself repeating word-for-word sentences I already used (like topic sentences from body paragraphs) instead of actually writing something that brings the essay together. Instead of writing “in conclusion, the theme of the story is _ because x, y, and z” I would put something like “xyz shows how the theme of _ is prevalent in _. The characters face challenges like x, that follow them through the story into yz.”

I hope this made sense. I think transition words can make it harder for an essay to “flow” and sound cookie-cutter-ish in my opinion. But I’m not super knowledgeable at writing essays so I don’t know how helpful my advice will be.
