What is the idea of Dorothea Lange excerpt?Lange was deeply committed to the FSA's mission of documenting the effects of the Great Depression on Americans and drawing attention to their plight so that such events would never happen again.
However, he was concerned that photographers were moving too quickly and were not fully capturing the world around them. She contended that they did not depict what they saw, but rather images that depicted the world as they desired it to be. What has changed in Gertrude over the course of the play?
Gertrude suffers a moral awakening after learning that Claudius murdered her first husband, King Hamlet. Her "o'erhasty marriage," which had previously been an ethical grey area, has now become a "black and grainèd stain" on her own soul.
What is Hamlet about?
Shakespeare's tragedy, The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, commonly abbreviated as Hamlet (/haemlt/), was composed between 1599 and 1601. Shakespeare's longest play, it has 29,551 words. The play, which takes place in Denmark, tells the story of Prince Hamlet seeking retribution from his uncle Claudius, who killed Hamlet's father in order to usurp the kingdom and wed Hamlet's mother.
With a plot that can "apparently endlessly repeat and adapt by others," Hamlet is regarded as one of the "most powerful and influential tragedies in the English language."
Shakespeare's play has been compared to a variety of literary works, including Elizabethan dramas and Greek tragedies. The editors of the Arden Shakespeare cast doubt on the notion of "source hunting," noting that it assumes authors always borrow concepts from other works for their own and implies no author can have an original idea or be the inventor. When Shakespeare was writing, there were numerous tales of sons seeking revenge for the deaths of their fathers, as well as tales of cunning sons who pretended to be ignorant in order to outwit their enemies. This would encompass the narrative of the ancient Roman Lucius Junius Brutus, which Shakespeare is said to have been familiar with, as well as the narrative of Amleth, which was written in Latin by the 13th-century historian Saxo Grammaticus and republished in Paris in 1514. Then, in 1570, the scholar François de Belleforest of the 16th century translated and published the Amleth narrative in French. While it shares several story points and significant characters with Shakespeare's Hamlet, it does not share all of them. It's probable that Shakespeare had read the French version of Belleforest's tale before it was first published in English in 1608—after Hamlet had been written.

Racing to Race
Carlo stopped to rest for a minute and tried to catch his breath. He’d been running for so long that he had pains in his side and his legs were beginning to hurt. He hunched over and tried to expand his lungs, but it was like trying to suck air out of a bicycle tire. His body was too exhausted to even allow him to take a deep breath, and he started to wheeze again.
“Great,” he thought, “let me just add asthma to my expanding list of ailments. I can’t believe that I can’t even jog two miles without completely collapsing!” He finally gave in to his aching body and laid down on the grass to recuperate. He closed his eyes and tried to imagine himself running on the school track in the 1,600-meter race. He pictured himself running steadily toward the finish line, running effortlessly like a cheetah in the jungle. He was so lost in thought that he didn’t even hear Meiya approach.
“Hey sleepyhead, what are you doing napping on Sean’s lawn in the middle of the day?” Meiya asked playfully.
Carlo quickly sat up, breathing normally now and feeling a little embarrassed. “I am trying to get in shape to try out for track, but I can’t even run two miles,” he said dejectedly.
“Wait, how many months are you out of surgery? Didn’t you just finish rehab last week?” Meiya asked. “You can’t expect to run two miles the first day.”
It had been six months since Carlo’s surgery and he specifically remembered the doctor telling him he could start running after six months. But he thought about what Meiya had said and realized she had a good point. After his surgery, the doctor did say rehab would be crucial to his recovery but that it would take time for him to gain back full use of his leg. He thought about how a baby had to learn to walk before it could run. He remembered when his nephew was learning to crawl; within days it seemed like he was walking. Running didn’t come right away, Carlo remembered. He realized it was the same with his therapy. The maximum he had run in the past month was one mile on the treadmill, so he realized that Meiya was probably right. He would have to work at building up his endurance and set more realistic goals for himself. As he thought about what he had already accomplished, he started to smile and felt like a weight was being lifted off his shoulders. He realized that he had run almost a mile and a half before his body started to protest and if he kept working hard, he could get back to where he was before his accident.
“Since when did you get so smart, Dr. Meiya?” he teased. “Do you want to race to the next mailbox?”
“You’re on!” she challenged and took off running at full speed.

"She Walks in Beauty"
by George Gordon Byron An excerpt from "To Helen"
by Edgar Allan Poe
She walks in Beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; And all that's best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes: Thus mellowed to that tender light Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less, Had half impaired the nameless grace Which waves in every raven tress, Or softly lightens o'er her face; Where thoughts serenely sweet express, How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.
And on that cheek, and o'er that brow, So soft, so calm, yet eloquent, The smiles that win, the tints that glow, But tell of days in goodness spent, A mind at peace with all below, A heart whose love is innocent!
Helen, thy beauty is to me Like those Nicean barks of yore, That gently, o'er a perfumed sea, The weary, wayworn wanderer bore To his own native shore.
On desperate seas long wont to roam, Thy hyacinth hair, thy classic face, Thy Naiad airs have brought me home To the glory that was Greece And the grandeur that was Rome.
Lo! in yon brilliant window-niche How statue-like I see thee stand, The agate lamp within thy hand! Ah, Psyche, from the regions which Are Holy Land!
Which statement best describes the tone of the poems?
A.Both poems are sorrowful, mourning lost loves.
B.Both poems are complimentary, paying tribute to loved ones.
C.Both poems are nostalgic, remembering better times.
D.Both poems are introspective, thinking about serious situations.

Firstly, the sales assistant who assisted me was not attentive and seemed disinterested in helping me. They did not greet me when I entered the store, and when I asked for assistance, they provided minimal information about the product. I found their attitude quite discourteous and unprofessional.
Secondly, when I received the shoes, I noticed a defect in one of the shoes that I had not noticed in the store. I was quite surprised and disappointed as I expected the product to be in good condition. I immediately returned to the store to request a refund, but the sales assistant who attended to me was not apologetic and did not seem to care about my concerns.
I am extremely disappointed with my experience at your store and hope that you will take my feedback into account to improve your services. As a loyal customer, I expect better customer service and quality products from your store. I would appreciate it if you could arrange for a refund and ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Demario's biology class has a quiz every other Friday. This is the third time Demario has been so worried about other personal matters that he hasn’t done quite as well on the quizzes as he might have otherwise. What has Demario upset is the fact that the professor leaves the room while the students take the quiz, and over half the class is taking the opportunity to cheat. Demario knows personally several of the other students in the class, and some of the ones Demario hangout with are among those who are cheating. Demario knows that a failure to speak to the professor about the cheating will result in his own grade being lower, since the school grades on the curve system. But if Demario does say something to the professor he will be doing his friends and the others a great harm, since cheating is taken very seriously at the school and can lead to expulsion. If Demario doesn’t “turn in” the classmates, the only other alternative is he will get a worse grade than he deserves. He will also be labled as a snitch among is peers and a cheater at the school, either of which Demario has never done. Further, if the professor somehow discovers that Demario is hiding the cheating of others, Demario will be considered an accessory to the cheating, and may be reprimanded for not turning others in, since the school operates on an honor system.
Critical thinking About Ethics Right vs Wrong
What should Demario do?
Should Demario cheat?
Should Demario turn in the cheating classmates?
Should Demario say nothing and not cheat himself?
Be specific in your answer about exactly what Demario should do.
Answer:
Demario should not cheat and in fact study more in order to get the good grade himself. Even though he is worried that his peers will name call he should turn them in. It would be a greater deal to him to turn them in, in favor of the honor system at his school.
Explanation:
I must say that cheating is not the right thing to do, and it is morally and ethically wrong. Cheating is unfair to other students who have worked hard to earn good grades. It is also a violation of the academic code of conduct and can have serious consequences. As a result, Demario must not cheat in the exam.
Demario should talk to the professor about the cheating that is happening in the class. It's essential for him to have an honest conversation with the professor about the situation. He must explain his concerns and suggest some solutions. He should ask the professor to stay in the room while the exam is being taken, or ask him to switch to a different kind of assessment.
Demario should not turn in the cheating classmates because doing so could ruin their academic careers and create tension among them. Instead, he should speak to them privately about the consequences of cheating and urge them to stop. He should tell them that cheating is not worth it, and they could face severe penalties if caught. He should also encourage them to study harder and work to earn good grades on their own.
Lastly, Demario should say nothing and not cheat himself. Cheating is not the solution to his problems and will only make things worse. He should study hard, seek help if he needs it, and work towards earning good grades on his own. He must remember that academic integrity is essential and cheating is never acceptable.
I hope this helps you. :)
an essay of about 250 words on Catherine's development in coming of age in Austin's Northanger abbey novel ( give example )
Catherine Morland is the protagonist of Jane Austen's novel Northanger Abbey. She is portrayed as a young and naïve girl who comes from a sheltered background. Throughout the novel, Catherine undergoes a significant transformation as she experiences different events and interacts with various characters. This essay will examine Catherine's development as a coming-of-age character in Northanger Abbey, with specific examples from the novel.
At the beginning of the novel, Catherine is portrayed as a young girl who is easily influenced by others. She has a vivid imagination, and her love of Gothic novels makes her believe that real-life events are similar to those in her books. For example, when Catherine visits Northanger Abbey, she expects to find hidden passages and dark secrets, just like in the Gothic novels she has read. However, as she spends more time at Northanger Abbey, she realizes that her expectations were unfounded.
Another example of Catherine's development is her growing awareness of social conventions and expectations. She initially struggles to understand the nuances of social interactions and is often unsure of how to behave. However, as she spends more time with the Tilney family, she begins to understand the expectations of polite society. For example, when she is invited to go for a walk with the Tilneys, she hesitates to accept because she is afraid of being too forward. However, she eventually accepts, showing that she is becoming more confident and comfortable with her social standing.
Catherine's development is also evident in her relationships with other characters. At the beginning of the novel, she is infatuated with Isabella Thorpe, a friend she meets in Bath. However, as Catherine spends more time with Isabella, she realizes that she is not the kind of person she wants to be friends with. She recognizes Isabella's faults and is able to break off the friendship.
In conclusion, Catherine's development in Northanger Abbey is a central theme of the novel. She goes from a young and naïve girl to a more mature and confident young woman. Her experiences at Northanger Abbey and her interactions with various characters help her to grow and develop. As readers, we are left with the impression that Catherine will continue to develop and mature in the future.
