list the norms and expectations of math for all ages listed.

Answers

Answer 1

The norms and expectations of math vary depending on the age group. For young children, the focus is on basic numeracy skills such as counting, addition, and subtraction.

As children get older, the expectations become more complex, including multiplication, division, and problem-solving. Students are expected to be able to use mathematical language and symbols accurately and fluently, and to be able to reason logically and abstractly.

Additionally, students are expected to show their work and explain their thought processes when solving problems. For older students, the expectations become even more rigorous, with a focus on higher-level math such as calculus and statistics.

Students are also expected to be able to apply math in real-world situations and to be able to work collaboratively to solve complex problems. Ultimately, the expectation is that students will develop a strong foundation in math that will prepare them for success in future academic and professional endeavors.

why was luther translation of the new testament into vernacular german so significant?

1. It made the Bible accessible to the general public. Before the Luther translation, the Bible was only available in Latin, which was a language that only educated people could read. By making the Bible accessible to the general public, Luther helped to spread his ideas about the need for reform and the importance of individual interpretation of the Bible.

3. It had a lasting impact on the German language. How far awey is this sentence length from the averoge sentence length, in terms of the riariber of staniderd teviations? (Rouns up to 2 digits after the decimal point.)

Answers

(a) To find the proportion of sentences with lengths between 36.0 and 90.0 words, we can use the z-score formula and the standard deviation.

(b) To calculate how far away a sentence length of 33 words is from the average sentence length in terms of standard deviations, we can use the same z-score formula. z = (x - μ) / σ

(a) Since we don't have the mean sentence length, we can assume it to be the average sentence length mentioned in the question, which is 63 words.

The z-score formula is calculated as follows:

z = (x - μ) / σ

where:

x = value (36.0 or 90.0)

μ = mean (average sentence length = 63)

σ = standard deviation (unknown)

To find the proportion, we need to calculate the z-scores for both values and then use a standard normal distribution table (z-table) to find the corresponding proportions.

For 36.0 words:

z1 = (36.0 - 63) / σ

For 90.0 words:

z2 = (90.0 - 63) / σ

Using the z-table, we can find the corresponding proportions for z1 and z2, and then subtract the lower proportion from the higher proportion to get the proportion of sentences with lengths between 36.0 and 90.0 words.

(b) where:

x = 33 (given sentence length)

μ = 63 (average sentence length)

σ = standard deviation (unknown)

We can calculate the z-score for the given sentence length and then determine how many standard deviations away it is from the mean. This will give us the answer in terms of the number of standard deviations.

1 Alexander Hamilton is the Founding Father pictured on the ten-dollar bill. Unlike George Washington (on quarters and dollar bills), or Thomas Jefferson (on nickels and two-dollar bills), Hamilton was never elected president. The two facts people most often recall about Hamilton are that he served as the first secretary of the treasury and that he was killed by Aaron Burr in a duel. He deserves more credit than those two facts suggest. His presence on the ten-dollar bill shows that he played a crucial role in the early years of our country.
2 Although many key figures from early history came from privileged backgrounds, Hamilton grew up in poverty in the West Indies. He was such a brilliant child that a kindly churchman arranged for his schooling in New York, where he attended King’s College, now Columbia University.
3 Hamilton first achieved distinction during the Revolutionary War. His abilities attracted the attention of George Washington, who appointed him an aide-de-camp and relied on him as a personal secretary and adviser. Later in the war, Hamilton resigned as aide to lead troops directly in battle.
4 Hamilton became a successful attorney and an important figure in New York and national politics after the war. His support for a strong central government helped bring about the Constitutional Convention of 1787. Hamilton was one of the authors of the Federalist Papers which defended the new Constitution. Appointed by Washington as secretary of the treasury, Hamilton’s fiscal policies ensured the stability of the new republic. His rivalry with Thomas Jefferson helped spark the rise of the political parties in the United States.
5 Even after Hamilton resigned his office, he remained influential on the national stage and in the New York politics. His opposition to another New York politician, Aaron Burr, led to the infamous duel and Hamilton’s untimely death.
The man who killed Alexander Hamilton will probably never appear on U.S. currency. Aaron Burr’s early career showed great promise. Born in Princeton, New Jersey, he was the son of a president of Princeton College and the grandson of a famous clergyman. At age 16, Burr graduated from Princeton. His pursuit of further studies was interrupted by the American Revolution. Burr distinguished himself on the field and briefly joined General Washington’s staff. However, Burr’s relationship with Washington was never close or easy, and the young hero returned to the battlefield, eventually leading a regiment.
7. After he left the army, Burr began a hugely successful legal career in New York, often crossing paths with Alexander Hamilton in social and professional settings. He became active in state politics and was elected to the U.S. Senate. Burr’s relationship with Hamilton turned unfriendly as the men assumed leadership of opposing political parties in New York. In the disputed presidential election of 1800, Hamilton’s role in ensuring that Burr was elected vice president rather than president increased the antagonism between the two men.
8 Burr reached the peak of his political career as vice president. After that, he was alienated from his own party. Aware that he would not be nominated again, he unsuccessfully ran for governor of New York. Burr blamed Hamilton for his political troubles. In July 1804, the U.S. vice president fatally wounded his rival in a duel.
9 Burr’s misfortunes and misconduct did not end with the duel. He became involved in a plot to detach the Louisiana Territory from the United States and apparently to crown himself emperor. He was tried for treason in 1807 but acquitted. In disgrace, Burr fled to Europe for four years. He returned to New York to practice law and died in penniless obscurity at the age of 80.

Which sentence from the passage MOST strongly supports the prediction that Burr will never appear on U.S. currency?

A.
Burr’s relationship with Hamilton turned unfriendly as the men assumed leadership of opposing political parties in New York.

B.
Burr reached the peak of his political career as vice president.

C.
Burr’s misfortunes and misconduct did not end with the duel.

D.
He became involved in a plot to detach the Louisiana Territory from the United States and apparently to crown himself emperor.

We both giggled. Really giggled. Suddenly, in just a pulse beat, twenty years disappeared and all of it came rushing back. The big girls (whom we called gar girls-Roberta's misheard word for the evil stone faces described in a civics class) there dancing in the orchard, the ploppy mashed potatoes, the double weenies, the Spam with pineapple. We went into the coffee shop holding on to one another and I tried to think why we were glad to see each other this time and not before. Once, twelve years ago, we passed like strangers. A black girl and a white girl meeting in a Howard Johnson's on the road and having nothing to say. One in a blue and white triangle waitress hat-the other on her way to see Hendrix. Now we were behaving like sisters separated for much too long. Those four short months were nothing in time. Maybe it was the thing itself. Just being there, together. Two little girls who knew what nobody else in the world knew-how not to ask questions. How to believe what had to be believed. There was politeness in that reluctance and generosity as well. Is your mother sick too? No, she dances all night, Oh-and an understanding nod.

Answers

There are a number of potentially important details and observations in this section from Toni Morrison's "Recitatif" that might be made:

1. Time and Nostalgia: As the narrator muses over memories from twenty years ago, the paragraph incites a feeling of nostalgia. The rapid flood of memories highlights the strength of memory and the influence of previous experiences by making time seem to vanish.

2. Childhood Phrases and Nicknames: The two girls invented the word "gar girls" as a nickname. It shows Roberta's misunderstanding of the meaning of the phrase "car girls" that was used in their civics class.

3. References to food: The use of phrases like "ploppy mashed potatoes," "double weenies," and "Spam with pineapple" draws attention to specific foods that are connected to their common experiences.

4. Social and Racial Disparities: The narrator draws attention to Roberta's race by mentioning that she is a white girl and she is a black girl.

5. Their Relationship's Evolution: The narrator considers how their relationship has changed throughout time. They had previously been strangers, but now they act like long-lost sisters.

6. Unspoken Interpretation: The paragraph highlights the girls' capacity to "not ask questions" and "believe what had to be believed." They have an implicit understanding of one another that reflects their common expertise or individual experiences.

7. Courtesy and Generosity: The lack of personal questions and the nod of agreement show courtesies and generosity in their exchange. Despite having diverse upbringings and life experiences, they are understanding and respectful of one another's situations.

These insights draw attention to the themes of memory, childhood, racial dynamics, and interpersonal change.

Her fingers rubbing the material of plastic gloves
like the pages of her well-worn Bible.
Mami rides the train in the afternoon,
another hour and some change to get to Harlem.
She says she spends her time reading verses,
getting ready for the evening Mass,
and I know she ain’t lying, but if it were me
I’d prop my head against the metal train wall,
hold my purse tight in my lap, close my eyes
against the rocking, and try my best to dream

A student said, ‘In this part of the story, where Zoe and Jake are caught in the avalanche, I can’t believe Zoe is so slow to react to the warning signs because, in the end, the situation sounds really dangerous.’ To what extent do you agree? *

Answers

Answer:

I don´t agree.

Explanation:

I think it´s impossible to understand Zoe´s mental process at the time since I haven´t been in such a situation. However, the story makes it clear that she didn´t realize the warnings before the avalanche, and that made her not react more quickly.

It´s stated that she felt snow slipping from underneath her, and she heard a rumble that could have been a sign. Even when she saw that Jake had stopped and later started to go towards her and warning her, she was still in disbelief. I guess that she could have been more prepared, as it´s expected that people are trained to be safe while skiing. But we can never presume how we´ll react in such a situation, and I can imagine that even with many signs of an avalanche coming, the idea of such a horrible thing happening must be hard to believe at first.
