Submit your three or four-paragraph open letter about a current issue in your school or community that expresses your position on the topic and provides two claims and four pleces of supporting evidence (key facts, examples, detalls). Make it clear who you are addressing in the letter and what you hope to accomplish.
Answer: this is gonna be a long one lol
Explanation:
There are lots of issues in our community and in our schools, but one problem that seems to be in both is the fight for equality. We all want to be heard and understood but for some, it might be harder than others. This isn't just for one specific group it is for many and all.
Everyday, when you look at your phone or even just outside at the people what do you notice? They all look different, maybe the same in some ways but different in most. But physical features are just the beginning because underneath we all are unique and special. Some people embrace their uniqueness, but a lot hide it away in fear of unacceptance. For example, the fight for equal rights in black citizens, even though they say that fight ended a long time ago we can't ignore the fact that they are still looked at differently. Why? Who knows, and no, not everyone is like this but that doesn't make it easier for them. Another example, over 28.9% of black citizens are living below the poverty threshold as opposed to 18% white americans. Isn't that crazy? This is evidence that supports the thought about black citizens not having equal rights.
I hope that this has opened your mind to this issue. I want equality for all and a place where no matter what your skin looks like, where you were raised and even what happened long long ago in the early stages of this nation, you can live happily and to the fullest. We as a community can do our part and make this community a free, accepting, and fair place for us all to live.
Here is an example of an open letter:
To the Principal and the School Board,
I am writing to express my concern about the recent decision to cancel the annual school trip due to budget cuts. I believe that this decision is unfair and detrimental to the students’ learning and well-being. I urge you to reconsider this decision and find alternative ways to fund the trip.
The school trip is a valuable opportunity for students to explore new places, learn new things, and bond with their classmates and teachers. It is also a reward for their hard work and achievements throughout the year. The trip helps students develop important skills such as curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and communication. It also exposes them to different cultures, perspectives, and experiences that enrich their knowledge and understanding of the world.
By canceling the trip, you are depriving the students of these benefits and sending a message that their education and happiness are not a priority. You are also breaking a tradition that has been cherished by many generations of students and teachers. The trip is something that the students look forward to and prepare for all year long. It is a source of motivation and excitement for them.
I understand that the school is facing financial challenges and that you have to make difficult decisions. However, I think that there are other ways to save money without sacrificing the quality of education and the well-being of the students. For example, you could reduce unnecessary expenses such as printing costs, office supplies, or catering services. You could also seek donations or sponsorships from local businesses or organizations that support education. You could also organize fundraising events or activities that involve the students, parents, and teachers.
I hope that you will take my letter into consideration and reconsider your decision to cancel the school trip. I believe that the trip is a worthwhile investment that will benefit the students in many ways. I also believe that the school community can work together to find solutions to overcome the financial challenges. Please do not let the budget cuts ruin this valuable opportunity for the students.
Sincerely,
A concerned student

How does Nikki use structure (white space, stanzas, line breaks, etc) in Allowables?
Answer:
The speaker/narrator of “Allowables” is a good anonymous entity using first-person narration to establish a new personable, yet relatable relationship with audiences. The speaker incorporates repetition from the term “I” by using this particular pronoun on six independent occasions throughout this 16-line poem. Audiences can presume that a human, either man or female, is the voice of the poem. The forthright first line of the poem, “I killed a spider” (1) evokes a confessional tone of voice of the story. Viewers reading the poem’s very first line can make the assumption that the presenter has information and facts to reveal surrounding the death of this spider. By acknowledging the wrong violent take action, the speaker can now have peace with their decisions and no lengthier have to internally struggle – the perfect graceful justice. The speaker’s function in this poem is very significant to typically the evolution of the poem’s plot.
The particular insight and also the precise product information audiences acquire towards the spider’s qualities are through the narrator’s characterization using literary devices and techniques such because symbolism, metaphors, imagery, plus personification in the composition. Spiders, in an outlook, are a symbolic representation associated with human fragility as well as the attraction of evil and the narrator supports this idea in the poem. The speaker affirms readers that the spider is not the “murderous brown recluse” (2) or “black widow (3). The poem’s spider, among other diverse spiders, recommendations diversity being a metaphor that will all living things ought to live symbiotically with a single another. Mentioning different varieties of spiders alludes to the poem’s theme that will humans should not damage others, no matter who/what they are; diversity will be something to embrace, not really something to fear. Imagery and personification are afterwards incorporated in the poem’s plot when audiences find out the spider was, “only a small / Sort of papery spider” (5-6). Visual images such since these explicate the spider’s vulnerability. This small index is described as “papery” which possesses the etymology regarding being thin, flimsy, poor, or vulnerable (OED). Whenever audiences are reminded associated with the spider’s weakness, it generates an empathetic tone for the spider’s regrettable death. Finally, the speaker of the poem declares the particular spider’s sex to be female from the incorporation of gender pronouns “she” and “her” on lines 9-11. Since the spider is a female, this portrayal further illustrates the spider’s prejudicial weakness. Therefore, the spider’s vulnerability demonstrates in order to audiences that the crawl was an unwilling plus undeserving victim of typically the narrator’s violence.
Hope this helped!

The Giver-Explain two of the rules that Jonas must follow in his new role as the Receiver in Training." WHY does each of these rules exist?
Answer:
1) Not to discuss his training with anyone else in the community, including his family. This rule exists to maintain the community's limited understanding of the past and to ensure that the knowledge that Jonas is receiving does not create any unrest or upset the order in the community.
2) Not to apply for release (euthanasia). This rule exists because Jonas is privy to certain information that may cause him to question the values and principles of the community. The elders fear that if Jonas were to apply for release, he could reveal this information to the rest of the community and potentially upset the balance and order of this society.
These rules exist to maintain a level of control and regulate information in the community. The government in The Giver is fearful of any changes or disruption, and the rules are designed to enforce the status quo, which has been carefully crafted and maintained over time.
There are 8 rules that Jonas must follow:

LEGO Builders Can Go Pro
Let's say you're spending the day building a LEGO model. You rummage through multitudes of multicolored bricks until you spot—aha!—just the right sizes and shapes. You arrange and assemble them, carefully constructing your masterpiece brick by brick. The reward for your stick-to-itiveness might be a car, a castle, or a character from your favorite movie. It could be a dinosaur, a donut shop, or a detailed replica of the International Space Station. Now imagine you had something else to show for your efforts…a paycheck!
That's all in a day's work for LEGO model designers. These creative professionals earn a living by playing with the popular plastic construction toys. They develop the designs for the LEGO sets sold around the world, from simple products for young kids to monumental challenges for collectors. Open any LEGO box and you can see the results of hundreds of choices made by designers. They decide on the shapes, sizes, colors, and quantities of the pieces and how they fit together.
But not all their creations are destined to be packaged in a box and sold from store shelves. Designers also get to make the models used in LEGO movies, as well as plan and construct the miniature metropolises and larger-than-life figures at LEGOLAND theme parks. Imagine getting paid to build an 8-foot (2.4-meter) sculpture of Batman out of LEGO bricks. Now that's a dream job with super fun benefits!
Designers use their imaginations and problem-solving skills to turn ideas into reality, staying involved from conception to production. To develop a design, they use both hands-on and digital techniques. They might begin by settling down with a bunch of bricks, trying out different ideas and combinations. Once they've put together a workable physical model, they recreate their design virtually using animation software.
What kind of education and experience do you need to land this gig? Many LEGO model designers studied 3-D (three-dimensional) arts or architecture in college. But the ability to transform a pile of plastic pieces into a masterful model is essential. That means one of the best ways to prepare for this job is to spend a lot of time…playing with LEGO! If you like to while away hour after hour up to your elbows in those beloved bricks, you could be building a strong foundation for a career.
For LEGO model designers, creativity is key, so if you're interested in going pro, think outside the box. It's great to be able to follow the directions to build a packaged model. But coming up with your own creations can be even more constructive. The company suggests that would-be designers start by using LEGO bricks to copy real-world objects, then move on to envisioning fantastical creations fresh from their own imaginations.
Need some inspiration to build on? The LEGO Group's website LEGO Ideas (ideas.lego.com) is a hub for dedicated LEGO fans of all ages. Kids, teens, and AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO) can share their creations with other LEGO enthusiasts. They can take part in activities and challenges and enter contests to win prizes, including LEGO sets, shopping sprees, or even trips. So even if you're not ready to put together a plan for a career as a LEGO model designer, there are still some ways to play with these cool construction toys for fun and profit!
