Most writers write for various reasons. Some seek to entertain, others to inform and some aim to provoke thought and inspire change. Ultimately, they have something to say, a message they want to convey to their readers.
Why do writers write? What is their message? In "Monster" by Walter Dean Myers, the author addresses important themes such as identity, justice and the power of perception. Through the character of Steve Harmon, a young aspiring filmmaker on trial for his alleged involvement in a robbery and murder,
Myers explores the complexities of the criminal justice system and challenges societal stereotypes. As the author, Myers likely wanted to shed light on the experiences and struggles of young individuals who find themselves entangled in the legal system.

women perform better than men when they are put in leadership positions. write to against the motion
Topic: Men are better leaders than women
It has been an argument over the years, men feeling superior to their fellow humans women, classifying them as objects and disrespecting their rights. Today I have gathered a few points and I hope to enlighten you or change your point of view, guiding you and explaining to you why men are better leaders than women, not disrespecting women's rights. Follow me in this wonderful journey and let me guide you, with theories and proof of this motion.
Firstly, to start with, women are very talented and skilled, from multitasking and taking care of the children whilst pregnant, going through menstrual cycles and the pain, men in other words have it easier and are free from pain and labour, they are only classified as stronger because of they don't go through the same situations women go through, in fact if a woman tries to defend this by saying "I mustn't get pregnant" she still has to go through three days or even a week of menstrual pain, each month, even having to diet because of the pain. As for men, each month of the year is a blessing, they can be called natural born leaders because of their "strength" and not having to go through any pain of that sort.
Contrary to my first point and not any offence to women by this one, I would like to state an obvious fact that women can be very 'complicated' but their complication only comes because they are considerate and think of others needs before theirs, but men on the other hand are strong willed and do not hesitate to state the problem in a market, if a complicated woman took a place as a leader, it would take time before the issue is noticed even if she noticed right away before the man, even if a man is less observant, immediately he notices the fault in an area he takes no time in handling the issue effectively and quickly.
According to scientific research, it shows that men mature slower than women, but it is learnt later on that maturity doesn't come in age, but in ability to handle any situation faster, and men have being thought from a young age to be less emotional than women although this myth is not to be taught, our generation is already used to this kind of bad behaviour and men are thought to bottle up their feelings making them grow and realise that they should be independent and this is also a necessary skill on leadership of course as they grow old they can stop hiding their feelings, men are also noticeably more competitive and a person with a competitive spirit knows how to lead a business and cannot stand the fact that they are below average. Men are also "alpha" to women and are the protectors of my family.
In conclusion men aren't as natural born leaders as women but with all their advantages they have proven to be good leaders themselves

what are two main aspects which determine the type of language that is used in mass media?
The two main aspects that determine the type of language used in mass media are the target audience and the purpose of the message.
1. Target audience: The primary factor influencing the choice of language in mass media is the target audience. Different media outlets cater to diverse demographic groups with varying language preferences and comprehension levels. For example, a newspaper aimed at educated professionals may use formal language and technical jargon, whereas a tabloid targeting a wider readership might employ simpler language and colloquial expressions.
2. Purpose of the message: The purpose of the message being conveyed also plays a significant role in determining the language used in mass media. Different media platforms serve different objectives, such as providing information, entertaining, persuading, or promoting products. The language chosen will align with these goals. News broadcasts, for instance, aim to inform and present facts objectively, using clear and concise language. In contrast, advertisements often employ persuasive techniques and may use more informal or catchy language to engage the audience.
3. Cultural and social considerations: Language used in mass media is also influenced by cultural and social factors. Media outlets need to consider cultural sensitivities, political correctness, and social norms while crafting their content. They may adapt their language to avoid offense or controversy, adhere to legal regulations, or reflect the values and expectations of their target audience.
4. Media platform and format: Different media platforms and formats have their own conventions and limitations. Television broadcasts, for instance, may rely on visual cues and body language to complement verbal communication, while radio programs solely rely on spoken words. The language used in print media, such as newspapers or magazines, may be more formal and structured compared to online articles or social media posts, which often utilize a more conversational and informal style.
By considering these two main aspects, namely the target audience and the purpose of the message, mass media can tailor their language choices to effectively engage their intended viewers, readers, or listeners while achieving their communication objectives.

Paragraph 20 reads, "Safer to get rid of something one didn't understand." What are some real-life examples of people acting on this mindset? What are the dangers and
drawbacks of this mindset?
One of the reasons people destroy or get rid of what they don't understand is the fear of the unknown. This fear is deeply anchored on self-preservation.
Examples of people getting rid of what they don't understandOne key example of how this is practiced is in the relationship between man and animals. People who are afraid that a certain kind of animal might hurt them are more likely to support hunting or killing such an animal.
The other example is in relation to people. Over the history of mankind, man has helped to destroy one another because of the fear of self-preservation. A fake document called Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which alleged that the Jews had a plan to take over the world triggered the Holocaust.
The danger of the mindset aboveThe irony is that many times, due to ignorance, a person or a group of people may do away with the very thing that can preserve or better their life.

New American Library (NAL) was the first mass market publisher to issue serious books by and about African Americans. Therefore, option D is correct.
Tt is not correct to say that NAL was the first mass market publisher to issue books sympathetic to Native Americans or an early publisher of children's books. Also, NAL was not the first American publisher to develop electronic books.
The New American Library (NAL) was founded in 1948 by Kurt Enoch. It is an American publisher that has been around for more than 60 years. The company is known for its fiction and nonfiction books. In the 1960s, NAL became the first mass-market publisher to produce books by African Americans. They produced books such as Malcolm X's autobiography and Richard Wright's novel Native Son. They were also the first mass-market publisher to issue serious books on black history, racism, and social justice.
The company had a vision for popularizing serious books that were previously only available to an elite group of readers. They wanted to make quality literature accessible to everyone. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, NAL was a leader in the paperback revolution that changed the publishing industry.
They printed many books, and their books were sold in drug stores, grocery stores, and other non-traditional bookstores. This made books more accessible to everyone, which helped to make reading more popular.

Democracy encourages governments to be responsive to the wishes of the people, according to a key tenet of democratic thought. Every modern democracy has political parties that govern politics, and some observers contend that parties are what makes democracies responsive.
What qualities make up a political party?Gaining power, pursuing an ideology, having a shared agenda, establishing a government, and serving as a bridge between the populace and the government are the traits of a political party. A group of people that band together to run for office and run the government is hence known as a political party.
Some, however, contend that parties give voice to extremists and decrease the responsiveness of governments to the populace. The discussion of parties and democracy has regained relevance. When emerging democracies grapple with representation and governability challenges, the discussion of parties and democracy assumes greater significance. So, one might concur with scholar S. C. Stokes's argument in the article written in June 1999, that political parties have an impact on society.

Hello, Editor I'm writing to express how very concerned I am about the situation facing our seas' population of white dolphins.
Letter to the Editor:I am extremely alarmed by the rapid fall in the population of white dolphin in our waters as a conscientious citizen and admirer of marine life. Many animals have been hurt or perished because of the enormous disturbance produced by the rapid expansion of coastal areas to those animals' natural habitats. This entails putting in place stringent rules to stop pollution, restricting rising sea levels in sensitive parts, and enforcing strict fishery restrictions to prevent overfishing of these animals. I implore the government and other interested parties to cooperate in protecting the white dolphin as well as its environment.

There was a time when all house-work was done by the women or girls of the household. Few husbands ever dreamt of washing up, preparing breakfast or tending the baby. Such duties were no concern of theirs. And normal school boy assumed that if help were needed in the home, his sisters would be called on to give it. The whole family supported the view that the male child could not or should not clean, mend, wash, cook or make beds.
Things are very different today. Doctors or barristers find nothing shameful in putting on an apron to help in the kitchen or nursery and even boast of being good at washing of clothes and personal linen.
The school boy is more often now than formerly expected to help his mother. One reason for the change is the shortage of domestic servants. Girls could once be found to do the hard work in middle- and upper-class homes for very moderate wages. Such girls nowadays work in factories. They earn more money than most householders can afford to pay. Thus, the wife now does the household work herself with the aid of labour-saving machines; and she expects some help from her husband.

Which theme is best supported by the excerpt?
Sometimes listening can be more valuable than
talking.
It can feel good to unburden your worries to
someone.
Hearing kind words from a loved one always
improves a situation.
O Others can often see our inner strengths better
than we can.
Ah, a delightful inquiry! Let us scrutinize the excerpt closely. The excerpt appears to be comprised of multiple sentences, each reflecting different aspects of human interaction and communication. The question at hand is which theme best resonates with the totality of the excerpt.
1. "Sometimes listening can be more valuable than talking." This sentence is reminiscent of the oft-quoted axiom, "We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak." It embodies the importance of listening in communication.
2. "It can feel good to unburden your worries to someone." This statement elucidates the therapeutic effect of sharing one’s concerns with another. It draws upon the notion that articulating one's thoughts and emotions can often lead to a lighter psychological burden.
3. "Hearing kind words from a loved one always improves a situation." Here, the emphasis is on the power of positive reinforcement and affection. It intimates that a few encouraging words from someone we hold dear can have a salubrious effect on our disposition and circumstances.
4. "Others can often see our inner strengths better than we can." This utterance is a reflection on the theme of external perspectives, acknowledging that sometimes an external vantage point can provide invaluable insights into our own qualities which we may not be able to discern ourselves.
Now, to synthesize our insights - each sentence touches on different facets of communication and emotional support. However, if we are to excavate a unifying theme, I would propose that the last sentence, "Others can often see our inner strengths better than we can," is the most representative of the excerpt as a whole.
This is because it encompasses the essential elements of the other sentences: the value of listening (taking into account others' perspectives), the relief of sharing one’s worries (which often includes receiving feedback on our strengths), and the power of kind words (which often reflect the strengths that others see in us).
Hence, the thematic interlacing of these sentences is woven most cogently through the final statement, serving as an umbrella that encompasses elements of the other three. Through the kaleidoscope of interaction, it reflects on how relationships and communication can enlighten our own self-perception and foster emotional well-being.
The theme best supported by the excerpt is that listening can be more valuable than talking.
Explanation:The theme best supported by the excerpt is that listening can be more valuable than talking. The passage emphasizes the importance of being a good listener and illustrates how it can benefit individuals. It suggests that others can often see our inner strengths better than we can and that hearing kind words from a loved one can improve a situation. These examples highlight the significance of listening in communication and personal growth.
