The pair of points (5, 6) and (10, y) lie on a line with a slope of 4/5. Set up and solve for the missing y-value using the slope formula. Show all work.

Answers

Answer:

y = 10

Step-by-step explanation:

calculate the slope m of the 2 points using the slope formula and equate to the given slope.

m = \(\frac{y_{2}-y_{1} }{x_{2}-x_{1} }\)

with (x₁, y₁ ) = (5, 6 ) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (10, y )

m = \(\frac{y-6}{10-5}\) = \(\frac{y-6}{5}\)

equate this expression for m to the given m of \(\frac{4}{5}\)

\(\frac{y-6}{5}\) = \(\frac{4}{5}\) ( cross- multiply )

5(y - 6) = 20 ( divide both sides by 5 )

y - 6 = 4 ( add 6 to both sides )

y = 10

Francium is an element with a half-life of 22 minutes. 1000 grams of francium is placed into a bowl determine

Answers

The amount of the element, Francium, that will remain after 2 hours is 31.25 grams.

Half-life problem

To determine how much francium will be left after 2 hours, we need to calculate the number of half-lives that occur within that time period.

Given that the half-life of francium is 22 minutes, we can calculate the number of half-lives in 2 hours (120 minutes):

Number of half-lives = (Total time elapsed) / (Half-life)

Number of half-lives = 120 minutes / 22 minutes ≈ 5.4545

Since we can't have a fraction of a half-life, we take the integer part, which is 5.

Each half-life represents a halving of the amount of francium. So, after 5 half-lives, the remaining amount of francium can be calculated using the formula:

Remaining amount = Initial amount * (1/2)^(Number of half-lives)

Given that the initial amount is 1000 grams, we can calculate the remaining amount after 2 hours:

Remaining amount = 1000 grams * \((1/2)^5\)

Remaining amount ≈ 1000 grams * 0.03125

Remaining amount ≈ 31.25 grams

Therefore, after 2 hours, approximately 31.25 grams of francium will be left.

Using simultaneous equation, the solution to the system of linear equations are 1223 $10 tickets, 1332 $20 tickets, and 763 $30 tickets were sold.

How many tickets of each kind has been sold?

Let's solve the problem step by step.

Let:

x = number of $10 tickets sold

y = number of $20 tickets sold

z = number of $30 tickets sold

From the given information, we can form the following equations:

Equation 1: x + y + z = 3318 (Total number of tickets sold)

Equation 2: y = x + 109 (109 more $20 tickets than $10 tickets were sold)

Equation 3: 10x + 20y + 30z = 61760 (Total sales from ticket sales)

We can use these three equations to solve for the values of x, y, and z.

First, let's substitute Equation 2 into Equation 1:

x + (x + 109) + z = 3318

2x + 109 + z = 3318

2x + z = 3209 (Equation 4)

Now, let's substitute the value of y from Equation 2 into Equation 3:

10x + 20(x + 109) + 30z = 61760

10x + 20x + 2180 + 30z = 61760

30x + 30z = 59580

x + z = 1986 (Equation 5)

We now have a system of equations (Equations 4 and 5) with two variables (x and z). We can solve this system to find the values of x and z.

Multiplying Equation 4 by 30, and Equation 5 by 2, we get:

60x + 30z = 96270 (Equation 6)

2x + 2z = 3972 (Equation 7)

Now, subtract Equation 7 from Equation 6:

(60x + 30z) - (2x + 2z) = 96270 - 3972

58x + 28z = 92298

Simplifying, we have:

29x + 14z = 46149 (Equation 8)

Now, we can solve Equations 5 and 8 simultaneously:

x + z = 1986 (Equation 5)

29x + 14z = 46149 (Equation 8)

Multiplying Equation 5 by 14, and Equation 8 by 1, we get:

14x + 14z = 27804 (Equation 9)

29x + 14z = 46149 (Equation 8)

Now, subtract Equation 9 from Equation 8:

(29x + 14z) - (14x + 14z) = 46149 - 27804

15x = 18345

Divide both sides of the equation by 15:

x = 18345 / 15

x = 1223

Substituting the value of x into Equation 5, we can find z:

1223 + z = 1986

z = 1986 - 1223

z = 763

Now that we have the values of x and z, we can substitute them back into Equation 1 to find y:

1223 + y + 763 = 3318

y + 1986 = 3318

y = 3318 - 1986

y = 1332

Therefore, the solution to the problem is:

x = 1223 (number of $10 tickets sold)

y = 1332 (number of $20 tickets sold)

z = 763 (number of $30 tickets sold)

From the attached figure, we have the following angles

Angle 1: Angle JKL = 5x+4Angle 2: Angle LKM = 3x

From the attached figure, we can see that:

Angle 1 is twice the measure of angle 2

This is so because, the angle 1 is the vertex angle of an isosceles triangle

While the angle 2 is half of it

So, we have

Angle 1 = 2 * Angle 2

Substitute the known values in the above equation

So, we have

2 * 3x = 5x + 4

Evaluate the product

So, we have

6x = 5x + 4

Evaluate the like terms

x = 4

Substitute x = 4 in the equations JKL=5x+4 and LKM=3x

So, we have

JKL= 5 x 4 + 4

LKM = 3 x 4

Answers

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

First, we need to find the difference between the price that he sold the shares for and the price that he bought them at: (67.68-60.65) = 7.03

That means that there was a gain of $7.03 per share for Archie.

That being said, since Archie bought 100 shares, we can multiply that number by 100 to find the total gain from selling the shares:

(7.03x100)= 703

The answer then is:

Archie gained $703 from selling all of his shares.

Rate my essay:This past week in English language Arts class, we've been reading the story Uncle Marcos by Isabel Allende. Weve also read the story To Fly by Neil deGrasse Tyson. We were asked to write down an argumentative essay describing which text Uncle Marcos or To Flybest describes the dream or fantasy of human flight? This is my essay.The story Uncle Marcos is about a girl named Clara and her uncle's relationship and of Uncle Marcos's adventures through his life. Together with his niece, Clara, believing in him every step of the way, he overcomes his failures and achieves his dreams. Clara hasn't seen her Uncle for 2 years but still remembers an ideal image of her Uncle Marcos. He was buried within the middle of the courtyard in a very long black coffin. Uncle Marcos would come to his sister's house for several months to enjoy time together with his nieces and nephews, but mostly Clara is who enjoyed the visits most. He went on voyages, plenty. After one of his voyages and no word, he was presumed dead. Though soon after the familys magical prayers, he miraculously came back to life. He eventually went on another voyage. Uncle Marcos had died there on the last voyage. He had passed because of an illness. Then the captain of the ship that he was aboard and had his body, was tempted to throw him overboard, but was prevented and his body was sent to his sister's house.The story To Fly is by Neil deGrasses Tyson. He's an American astrophysicist, planetary scientist, author, and science communicator. During this story that he wrote, he discusses the event of human flight, from myths to airplanes. Then even to space travel! Within the first paragraph he mentions myths including flying characters. For millennia the concept of having the ability to fly preoccupied human dreams and fantasies. Waddling around on Earths surface as majestic birds flew overhead, perhaps we developed a kind of wing-envy. One might even call it wing worship. You neednt look far. The US adopted a flying predator as an emblem of its strengththe Haliaeetus leucocephalus appears on the rear of the government note, the quarter, the Kennedy coin, the Susan B. Anthony dollar, and therefore the Eisenhower dollar. Theres also one on the ground of the government office within the White House. Our most famous superhero, Superman, can fly, upon donning blue panty hose and a red cape. after you die, if you qualify, you may just become an angeland everybody knows that angels (at least those with wings) can fly. Then there's Peter Pan and his fairy sidekick Tinkerbell, the winged horse Pegasus, the wing-footed Mercury, and also the aerodynamically unlikely Cupid. Within the 5th paragraph, he discusses when the primary airplane was built. The Wright Brothers of Ohio are, of course, generally credited with being first on the wing, as North Carolinas automobile registration code slogan is quick to remind you. But this claim has to be further delineated. Wilbur and Orville were the primary to fly a heavier-than-air, engine-powered vehicle that carried a personality's beingOrville, during this caseand that didn't land at a lower elevation than its takeoff point. Previously, people had flown in balloon gondolas, in gliders, and had executed controlled descents from cliff sides, but none of those efforts would make a bird jealous. Actually, Wilbur and Orvilles first trip wouldn't have turned bird-heads either. At 10:35 AM standard time, on December 17, 1903, the primary of their four flights thereon historic day lasted 12 seconds, at a median ground speed of 6.8 miles per hour, against an air speed of 30 miles per hour. In paragraph 12, he talks about spaceflight. We didnt build an area station, but we visited the Moon. During this effort, human bird-worship continued. Never mind that on the Moon, where there's no air and where wings are completely useless, our astronauts landed in a very spacecraft named after a bird. A mere 65 years, 7 months, 3 days, 5 hours, and 43 minutes after Orville left the bottom, the spaceman gave his first statement from the Moons surface, Houston, Tranquillity Base here. The Eagle has landed.After reading these two stories, in my opinion, I believe the story To Fly by Neil deGrasse Tyson best described the dream/ fantasy of human flight. The story of Uncle Marcos doesnt really explain much about the dream/ fantasy of human flight. Its just a fictional story talking about an Uncle who just about seems to need attention from everyone. On the opposite hand, the story To Fly seems non-fictional. This story states facts, as listed above, in paragraph 3.
